This is not about art #3: Sharp savage

The human animal is built to abuse power. Agression and pack mentality have always been deeply embedded human traits that consistently manifest themselves irrespective of gender, socioeconomic background or race, see: “Lord of the Flies” for a quaint little literary example of this truism. Racism is a hot topic, it continues to sells seats but my question is why do the white-folks always land the major role of powerful antagonist while the black-folks continue to be type cast as the lowly protagonist? Let’s be fair here. The real truth of the matter is that African Americans as a group are not immune from belligerent collective bigotry; in fact this condition is far too often fostered and reinforced within the group by pseudo-political vampires like Al Sharpton of whom even the inflammatory Michael Savage pales in comparison. This aggressive collective modus operandi continues to go unchecked as well by the noble proponents of multiculturalism and even seems to be sanctioned by our culture and the media by way of selectively turning a blind eye. After all, any violent act by an African American, be it by an individual or the group could be viewed as reactionary right? A presumably justifiable response to the antebellum era first strike delivered by the white man or it could just be a product of that deep mistrust of any activity from whitey that could be an underlying race-based will to power strategy. Paranoid? Maybe, but apparently justified and the condescending appeasements that all too often ensue bring along with them the repercussions that inevitably strengthen the grip of hatred between races. As the assumed primary societal “underdog”, the African American community is often allowed concessions towards a narrow, race centric mindset that is exclusionary by nature and forbidden the rest of society in our highly “enlightened” culture of tolerance. There is a gross double standard at play here. In regards to this "hands-off" stance, a good example would be the current culture wars; whereas the primarily Anglo Christian right is continually and overtly under attack by liberal intellectuals with rhetoric that borders on hate speech...call it white on white violence. Interestingly enough though, the extremely religious African American community (of which views similar to those of the Christian right are shared) is allowed to stand unscathed on the sidelines of the battlefield. While in fact, the religious element within African American politics is deeply embedded and is a powerful force worthy of serious consideration. Still, "black" religion is kept beyond critical scrutiny...talk about segregation. Sadly enough when all is said and done, the worst of human dealings continues to be selectively corralled, processed and consumed by all of us because we like to look at our own potty. As animals, we have far more similarities than differences…as humans those same similarities keep us light years apart.
